Michael Turner
Michael Turner, born in Harrow, Middlesex in 1934, developed a passion for aviation and motor racing from a young age. His early interest in aircraft recognition and drawing was inspired by the R.A.F. during WWII. A visit to the Isle of Man in 1947 sparked his enthusiasm for motor racing, leading him to attend numerous motorsport events. After completing his education and National Service, Turner worked in advertising before becoming a freelance artist in 1957. He traveled extensively to capture the authenticity of his subjects, attending major race tracks and flying in various aircraft to inform his aviation paintings.
Turner was a founder member and President of The Guild of Aviation Artists and an Honorary Fellow of the Guild of Motoring Artists. His work has been exhibited globally, and has had six books published featuring his paintings. Turner’s clients included racing drivers, teams, sponsors, and military organizations, reflecting his dedication to both aviation and motorsport art.
