SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL - Original Oil on Canvas

A commanding large-format original acrylic portrait by Paul Dove, depicting Sir Winston Churchill seated in one of his most familiar guises, dark three-piece suit, spotted bow tie and cigar in hand.

Dove concentrates closely on Churchill’s expression and physical presence, capturing the distinctive combination of resolve, weariness and authority that came to define so many of the great statesman’s wartime portraits. The restrained background keeps attention firmly on the sitter, while the finely observed details of his face, hands and clothing give the work an impressive sense of depth and realism.

Churchill served as Prime Minister from 1940–45 and again from 1951–55, and remains inseparably associated with Britain’s leadership during the Second World War.
