WHILE THE SUN SHINES - Original Oil on Canvas

Fresh off the easel from Anthony Saunders, While the Sun Shines depicts James ‘Ginger’ Lacey returning over the south coast with fellow Hurricanes of No. 501 Squadron on 24 August 1940, during the height of the Battle of Britain.

The 36 × 24-inch original combines one of the RAF’s most celebrated fighter pilots with a classic Hurricane formation, set against the contrasting calm of the English landscape below.

A strong new addition to Anthony’s Battle of Britain work, and one we’re delighted to be able to feature almost as soon as it has left the studio.
