FIRESIDE CHATS #1 with Sir Dusty Miller & Black Robertson - Saturday 12th December 2026

Our first-ever public Fireside Chat at Aces High Gallery! As the colder, wetter months arrive and the runway becomes less suitable for fly-ins, we're bringing the aviation stories indoors.

12 December 2026

Welcome to Fireside Chats, a new series of informal gatherings at Aces High, offering a unique opportunity to meet, listen to and engage with fascinating veterans, aviators, authors and historians in the relaxed surroundings of our gallery.

And for our very first conversation, we're delighted to be welcoming two rather distinguished guests!

A Six-Star Event! 8,000 Hours of Aviation

Join Air Marshal Sir Dusty Miller in conversation with fellow three-star Air Marshal G.A. 'Black' Robertson.

With more than 8,000 flying hours between them, the vast majority in fast jets, and extraordinary careers spanning operational flying, command appointments and service around the world, there should be no shortage of fascinating stories!

Our guests will chat by the fire for approximately 45 minutes, followed by an open audience Q&A.

Of course, there's absolutely no chance of fitting 8,000 hours of aviation experience into 45 minutes. So bring your questions, and we'll see just how long we can keep them talking!

Meet our guests:

AIR MARSHAL SIR DUSTY MILLER

Sir Dusty's remarkable 40-year RAF career began as an apprentice at RAF Halton and went on to include operational command appointments in Sarajevo and Afghanistan, followed by a senior NATO role in Naples.

Along the way, he served as a flying instructor, commanded a front-line Tornado squadron in Germany and RAF Lossiemouth, and added Jaguars and Sea Kings to his extensive flying experience.

AIR MARSHAL G.A. 'BLACK' ROBERTSON

The son of a Spitfire ace, Black Robertson recalls two particular highlights from his RAF career: commanding No. 92 Squadron, flying Phantoms in Germany, and subsequently serving as an ADC to HM The Queen.

These memorable appointments came at a price, however: ten years as a self-confessed Whitehall warrior! At least they earned him an unforgettable hour flying a Sea Fury.

Today, Black spends much of his time writing and lecturing on aviation and military history.
