BUZZING THE STRAIGHT - Framed Collector's Piece
by Keith Burns
Renowned display pilot Ray Hanna flies his Spitfire Mk.IX along Goodwood’s historic pit straight below the level of the Grandstands during the Goodwood Revival meeting 7-9 September 1998.
Following an RAF career that spanned over 20 years and included flying as the team leader ‘Red 1’ for a record four years in the Red Arrows aerobatics team, Hanna became one of the leading display pilots of vintage military aircraft. At the first ever Goodwood Revival in 1998, with crowds expecting an overhead pass, Hanna instead flew his Spitfire at full throttle along the deck past the start/finish line in what has become perhaps the most memorable moment in the history of the festival.
Award-winning artist Keith Burns has brilliantly captures the speed and power of the scene with this stunning original acrylic on canvas which he in fact began painting whilst at Goodwood in 2022.
Faithfully reproduced in limited quantities, this stunning piece is available framed to full conservation standards in a variety of mount colours. Each copy is issued signed by artist Keith Burns and hand numbered with a full Certificate of Authenticity.
