To remember one of the most audacious assaults of WWII, Richard’s highly-detailed drawing recounts the moment when, shortly after midnight on the morning of 6 June 1944, Major John Howard leads men from the Ox & Bucks Light Infantry and sappers from the Royal Engineers in their dash towards the Bénouville Bridge. Later renamed Pegasus Bridge, the pilots of their three Horsa gliders had landed within yards of the bridge and after a brief fire-fight the bridge was captured.

Adding great authenticity, Richard’s original pencil drawing has been matted to full conservation standards to include museum-quality reproduction insignia plus the original autographs of four veterans directly involved in the action that night:

  • Staff Sergeant Peter Boyle
  • Staff Sergeant Jim Wallwork DFM
  • Private Alf Whitbread
  • Private Billy Gray
