TURN OF THE TIDE

Late on the morning of D-Day, 6 June 1944 and with the amphibious landings well underway, rocket-firing Typhoons from 181 Squadron race along the shoreline having just attacked enemy coastal batteries targeting the invasion beaches.

NORMANDY THUNDER

Dawn breaks to reveal the Allied invasion fleet approaching Juno Beach as the little town of St-Aubin-sur-Mer reverberates to the thunder of P-47 Thunderbolts from the 404th Fighter Group. Having set out in the dark with the aim of keeping the Luftwaffe away, by sunrise they head back to base at Winkton to re-fuel.
