Few artists come close to Richard’s extraordinary skill with pencil which is why his drawings are so highly prized by collectors. We're therefore delighted to have in stock these two original drawings fresh from Richard's studio.
ON ROUTE TO THE RHINE
Affectionately known to the USAAF bomber crews as ‘Little Friends’, their escort fighters added to the effectiveness of the American bombing operations towards the end of WWII and ultimately helped bring Germany to its knees.
Richard's outstanding piece depicts the 361st Fighter Group as they join up with Eighth Air Force bombers in the distance - their destination is Germany's industrial Rhineland.
Also completed in the centre or the lower margin is an original study of the 361st FG insignia PLUS, adding great provenance, the drawing has been signed by three famous P-51 Mustang pilots who flew escort missions towards the end of WWII:

DESTINATION NORMANDY

In the months following D-Day, Hawker’s hard-hitting, snub-nosed Typhoon struck terror into the German formations in Normandy and crack Panzer units wilted under the constant hail of rockets and bombs. Several times a day RAF Typhoon pilots crossed the Channel to run the gauntlet of flak and ground fire to deliver their lethal cargo.
Richard's detailed study brings to life these perilous sorties as a pair of Typhoons head back to Normandy on yet another mission.
Adding great authenticity, this unique drawing has been personally signed by FIVE renowned pilots who flew Typhoons during WWII:
