Fresh off the drawing board...
NOW IN STOCK: Two stunning original pieces by Richard Taylor commemorating D-Day and the Battle for Normandy
Both pencil drawings will be available for viewing at our Normandy Campaign event this Sunday, so make sure you attend if you're interested!
THE ASSAULT ON BÉNOUVILLE BRIDGE
To remember one of the most audacious assaults of WWII, Richard’s highly-detailed drawing recounts the moment when, shortly after midnight on the morning of 6 June 1944, Major John Howard leads men from the Ox & Bucks Light Infantry and sappers from the Royal Engineers in their dash towards the Bénouville Bridge. Later renamed Pegasus Bridge, the pilots of their three Horsa gliders had landed within yards of the bridge and after a brief fire-fight the bridge was captured.

THE LANDINGS AT JUNO BEACH
Of all five invasion beaches only Omaha was thought to be more difficult and dangerous, yet the landings at Juno, led by the Canadians, penetrated further inland on D-Day than any of the other Allied armies. In tribute to the heroism witnessed at Juno beach, Richard’s stunning drawing depicts the scene shortly after H-Hour on D-Day as the Canadians, soon to be involved in heavy fighting, pour ashore as Spitfires of the Canadian Wing patrol overhead.
