Just in from our expert framing team...

19 June 2020

By destroying the Möhne and Eder Dams, and damaging the Sorpe Dam, the crews of 617 Sqn recorded one of the most memorable night-time raids in the history of air warfare. We're delighted to have this incredibly rare piece in stock by the world's foremost aviation artist, Robert Taylor:

BREACHING THE EDER DAM - GRAPHITE EDITION

As his bouncing bomb scores a direct hit, pilot Les Knight powers his Lancaster over the Eder Dam and a huge deluge of water cascades over the fractured wall as he departs the scene.

Released in 2006 as an exclusively limited edition of just 100 copies worldwide, this sold out print is personally signed by Robert along with an unbelievable SEVEN Dambuster Pilots and Aircrew who, between them, targeted the Eder, Möhne, Sorpe and Ennepe Dams:

  • Sqn Ldr KEN BROWN CGM - Pilot AJ-F
  • Flt Sgt GRANT McDONALD - Rear Gunner AJ-F
  • Flt Lt GEORGE CHALMERS DFC DFM - Wireless Operator AJ-O
  • Sgt RAYMOND GRAYSTON - Flight Engineer AJ-N
  • Sgt FRED SUTHERLAND - Front Gunner AJ-N
  • Sqn Ldr GEORGE JOHNSON MBE DFM - Bomb Aimer AJ-T
  • Sqn Ldr LES MUNRO DSO DFC - Pilot AJ-W

This unique NINE signature collector's piece has been framed to full conservation standards to include photographs and the incredibly rare original autographs of:

- The Commander-in-Chief of Bomber Command during 1942-1945 - Marshal of the RAF SIR ARTHUR HARRIS BT GCB OBE DD.

- The Commander of No. 5 Group, which famously included the elite 617 Squadron - Air Chief Marshal SIR RALPH COCHRANE GBE KCB AFC

Mounted between the signatures of these two historical figures, is a pair of museum-quality reproduction RAF wings, creating a historically important collector's piece.
