HUNTERS IN THE DESERT
Led by the brilliant Eduard Neumann, the pilots of JG-52 based in North Africa were given a freedom in the air not experienced on the Channel Front. They roamed the desert skies, pouncing from height upon enemy formations. The tactics suited more aggressive pilots and stars quickly emerged, none more prominently than Hans-Joachim Marseille who, during a short career in the Desert, claimed over 150 victories.
This now RARE limited edition depicts Marseille's jubilant low pass as he returns to his Desert airstrip having just achieved his 100th victory. In the foreground his fellow pilots are seen clambering out of their Me109s having just completed another successful mission.
Adding great authenticity, four distinguished Luftwaffe fighter Aces who flew alongside Hans-Joachim Marseille have personally signed the print, including their legendary leader:
- Oberst EDUARD NEUMANN GCIG - 11 victories
- Hauptmann FRITZ KELLER - 13 victories
- Generalmajor FRIEDRICH KÖRNER 36 victories
- Ambassador FRANZ ELLES - 5 victories
