STORMING THE LINE - Commemorative First World War Piece
Keith Burns' dramatic piece takes us to the Battle of Cambrai in 1917 and every copy includes a unique remarque of a poppy in the lower border.
Taking the enemy by surprise, British Mk.IV tanks supported by infantry, rapidly advance through the heavily-defended German ‘Hindenburg Line’ on the first day of the Battle of Cambrai, 20 November 1917.
Keith’s superb painting has been faithfully reproduced as a high-quality Giclée fine art print on textured archival paper, with each copy personally signed by the artist and hand numbered. To create a moving collector’s piece befitting a bygone era, the paper used features a deckled edge, and with every print issued float mounted to reveal this feathered margin, a sense of three-dimensional depth is achieved in the overall display.
As a lasting tribute to all those who fought during the Great War, every copy is issued with a completely unique acrylic Remarque in the lower border of the print, fittingly depicting a poppy – it was one of the few plants to grow on the battlefields of the Western Front after the fighting had stopped and has since become recognised as a symbol of remembrance and hope for a peaceful future in the aftermath of the First World War.
