1 November 2016

At sunrise on 12 November 1944, led by the legendary Wg Cdr James Tait, Lancasters of 617 Sqn RAF prepare to attack the German battleship Tirpitz.  As they assemble for the run, Tait steers 270 degrees towards their target moored some 100 miles to the west in the Norwegian fjord at Tromsø. The fate of the Tirpitz is sealed.

This superb Commemorative Proof from the world’s most collected aviation artist is personally signed by an astonishing TWENTY FIVE distinguished pilots and aircrew of 617 Sqn, all of whom took part in attacks against the Tirpitz. Included is James Tait, one of the RAF’s most inspirational leaders and one of the most highly-decorated airmen of WWII.

This truly historic collector's piece is long sold out so we are delighted to have this copy available. It has been expertly framed to include reproduction RAF Wings and would make a superb centrepiece to any collection.
