On this day in history: The Great Escape
On the night of 24/25 March 1944 one of the most daring escape attempts of WWII was carried out from Stalag Luft III.
The escape has become legendary and we're proud to feature these special releases as lasting tributes:
STALAG LUFT III
by Richard Taylor
With the help of experts from the Stalag Luft III museum, this stunning re-creation of the camp as it stood in March 1944 includes the location of the three tunnels, escape huts and the camp’s other major sites.
Each print is individually printed and dedicated to one of the 76 men who escaped through the tunnel, then conservation mounted to include an imprint from one of the ORIGINAL counterfeit stamps created by the forgers in the escape team AND a sample of sand recovered from the ORIGINAL site of ‘Tunnel Harry’! THE GREAT ESCAPE
by Keith Burns
Keith's graphic piece depicts the moment an eagle-eyed sentry raises the alarm having spotted escapees making a stealthy dash to freedom from the entrance of ‘Tunnel Harry’.
This NEW RELEASE is now ready to order and with part of the edition signed by actor JOHN LEYTON who starred in the 1963 film, we're sure it'll be popular!

THE GREAT ESCAPE
by Richard Taylor
POWs escape into the cool night air and realise that their planned exit has fallen short of the woods; they will have to crawl to the cover of the trees under the noses of the patrolling sentries.
Prints are personally signed by inmate 'TEX' ASH who attempted several escapes from the camp.

THE ENTRANCE
by Len Kenyon
This dramatic piece was actually sketched by one of the inmates at the camp and depicts tunnel ‘Harry’, hidden beneath the stove in Hut 104. As one officer helps another into the 30-foot vertical shaft, a ‘stooge’ keeps watch for patrolling guards.
The LIMITED EDITION is personally signed by an inmate of Stalag Luft III involved in the escape!
The ESCAPERS EDITION is also signed by a further Great Escaper and is conservation matted to include an authentic RAF tunic button found at the site of Hut 104.

THE RAILWAY & COMING UP SHORT
A pair of Folio Drawings by Richard Taylor
A tiny wooden railway, using rope pulled trolleys, was constructed along the entire length of tunnel ‘Harry’ to move men, equipment, and earth!
As the first escapees break through the surface from tunnel ‘Harry’, they realise the exit has come up short of the surrounding woods.
Issued as a matching-numbered pair, each print is signed by a POW who was involved in the escape!
More information about these prints can be found HERE!
