A set of three matching-numbered prints, forming a complete set of Robert Taylor's highly acclaimed Battle of Britain Trilogy.

Originally released in 2000 to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, we rarely come across any of these Limited Editions titles, let alone a matching-numbered set!

This historic trilogy holds a combined total of SEVENTEEN signatures of highly-regarded RAF and Luftwaffe Veterans, who are sadly no longer with us, however personally signed each print upon release.

FIGHT FOR THE SKY

Capturing the very essence of an epic day during the Battle of Britain - a Heinkel III has been brought down, one of many never to make it home on this bright and sunny day. As the Luftwaffe bomber's crew emerge from their broken aircraft, relieved to have survived the crash-landing, a Mk I Spitfire from No 66 Squadron roars low overhead to verify another victory.

Fight for the Sky is signed by SIX Aces who flew Spitfires in the Battle of Britain:

  • Wing Commander Paddy Barthropp DFC AFC
  • Squadron Leader Ben Bennions DFC
  • Group Captain John Bisdee OBE DFC
  • Wing Commander Bob Doe DSO DFC*
  • Wing Commander George 'Grumpy' Unwin DSO DFM*
  • Group Captain Alan Wright DFC

GLORIOUS SUMMER

Robert’s magnificent piece captures young Pilot Officer Geoffrey Page, later to become one of the RAF’s most highly decorated fighter Aces, powering his Mk.I Hurricane over the country lane at the edge of an airfield, as 56 Sqn pilots make their third scramble of the day.

Glorious Summer is signed by SIX Hawker Hurricane Pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain:

  • Air Commodore PETER BROTHERS CBE DSO DFC*
  • Wing Commander 'Bunny' Currant DSO DFC*
  • Group Captain Dennis David CBE DFC* AFC
  • Group Captain Billy Drake DSO DFC*
  • Wing Commander Paul Farnes DFM
  • Wing Commander Gordon Sinclair OBE DFC

ASSAULT ON THE CAPITAL

Led by Herbert Ihlefeld, Me109E's of II/JG2 dive through the bomber formation giving chase to Hurricanes of 242 Squadron as Ju88s of KG30, having unloaded their bombs, head for home. One Ju88 has been hit and is already losing height, and will not return. Following behind He111s of KG53 try to keep formation as they fly through flak. The sky is alive with action.

Depicting a moment from the defining day in the most significant air battle ever fought, Assault on the Capital is signed by FIVE renowned Luftwaffe fighter Aces:

  • Oberst Adolf Dickfeld KC with Oak Leaves
  • Major Erich Rudorffer KC with Oak Leaves and Swords
  • Oberstleutnant Ernst-Wilhelm Reinert KC with Oak Leaves and Swords
  • Generalleutnant Günther Rall KC with Oak Leaves and Swords
  • Major Heinz Lange KC
