SAFE APPROACH - Oil on Canvas

An original oil painting by Gerald Coulson, showing a small group of mallards descending across a broad wetland landscape beneath a sweeping, cloud-filled sky.

Although best known for his aviation paintings, Coulson was also an accomplished landscape and wildlife artist, frequently turning his attention to the British countryside and its changing light and atmosphere. Safe Approach is a particularly peaceful example of this side of his work, with the birds providing just enough movement against the still water, reeds and distant horizon.

The painting has many of the qualities associated with Coulson’s wider work, with open skies, restrained detail and a strong sense of atmosphere, making it an appealing example of his work beyond aviation.

Oil on canvas. 30.5" x 24.5" overall framed size.
