On the night of 24 / 25 April 1944 Pilot Officer Cagienard and the crew of Lancaster KO-Y from 115 Squadron get ready to depart from RAF Witchford on a mission to Karlsruhe. Sadly they never returned after encountering top-scoring Luftwaffe night-fighter Ace Oberleutnant Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer of IV./NJG1.
