BADER LEGEND
by Robert Taylor
£50 FROM EVERY LIMITED EDITION PRINT SOLD WILL BE DONATED TO BLESMA, THE LIMBLESS VETERANS.
Aces High Gallery is proud to partner with Blesma, The Limbless Veterans, in a special charitable collaboration honouring one of the RAF's most celebrated fighter pilots, Sir Douglas Bader.
Having lost both legs in a flying accident in 1931, Bader defied expectations by returning to operational flying during the Second World War. Following his distinguished service in the Battle of Britain, he took command of the famous Tangmere Spitfire Wing in 1941, inspiring a generation of exceptional fighter pilots.
But Bader's legacy extended far beyond the cockpit.
In 1947, he joined Blesma in an advisory role, later becoming a member and Trustee. Throughout his life, he championed the independence and opportunities of those living with limb loss, a cause that remains central to Blesma's work today.
