This evocative study shows the first aircraft owned by one of the world’s most famous airlines. The aircraft was a second hand Avro 504K, and the airline was the Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd – otherwise known as Qantas Airways of Australia.

Commissioned by the airline in 1985 to celebrate their 75th Anniversary, this painting hangs in the Qantas head office boardroom, and a small limited edition of prints were privately issued by the airline. Because of this these prints rarely find their way on to the open market, although we were recently fortunate enough to acquire a very limited number of copies. Full of colour and historical pathos this charming print is a highly unusual and desirable piece.
