On the morning of 18 April 1942, James H. ‘Jimmy’ Doolittle would lead a force of sixteen specially modified B-25 bombers off the heaving deck of the USS Hornet to strike military targets in the heart of Japan. The aim was to give America and its allies an important morale boost in the wake of the destruction at Pearl Harbor. Little did he know, the thrilling story of the Doolittle Tokyo Raiders became one of the most legendary and courageous missions of World War Two.

John’s superb piece shows Doolittle conferring with Capt. Marc A. Mitscher on the bomber-laden deck of the Hornet as the fateful day approaches.

Adding great authenticity, this copy has been personally hand signed and endorsed by five veterans who took part in the Doolittle Raids. If that wasn’t already special enough, our expert framing team have included in the matting an autograph of the legendary leader himself, Jimmy Doolittle, creating a special collector’s piece to be cherished.
