BOMBERS MOON

As their Lancaster bombers wait, specialist RAF Pathfinder Force crews prepare for a high-precision, target-marking mission to attack industrial targets in Germany during the winter of 1944.

THE STRAGGLER RETURNS

Damaged by flak and enemy fighters, the pilot and his crew have somehow pulled together to get their ship home. Down on power, and handling badly she has slipped further and further behind the main formation on the long flight home, but she has made it!  Below are the green fields of England and with just a few more miles to run, the straggler returns.

EARLY MORNING ARRIVAL

On 24th September 1988 a lovingly restored Lancaster took to the air in Canada, painted in the markings of famous VC recipient Andrew Mynarksi. To commemorate this special event, Robert was commissioned to paint Mynarski's Lancaster making its final approach to RAF Colerne early on the morning of 6 June 1944.

HOME AGAIN ENGLAND

A battle-weary Lancaster limps home along the Norfolk coast with its outer starboard engine out of action following one of Bomber Command’s last daylight operations of the war, April 1945. Luckily a group of Spitfires is on hand to provide close escort and will see the bomber safely back to base.
