WE WERE A BAND OF BROTHERS - Framed Collector's Piece
by John D. Shaw
5 June 1944 at Upottery Airfield, England, gilded in the evening’s glow, Lt. Richard 'Dick' Winters confers with his Band of Brothers, the paratroopers of Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne.
Soon, these young men would parachute into German-occupied France, to spearhead Europe’s emancipation.
Winters holds a letter from regimental commander Col. Robert Sink, that states, “Tonight is the Night of Nights. Tomorrow throughout the whole of our homeland and the Allied world the bells will ring out the tidings that you have arrived, and the invasion for liberation has begun.”
Released in 2004, John's depiction of Easy Company on the eve of D-Day was a massive success, with the veteran-signed edition selling out quickly. Now only found on the Secondary Market, we're delighted to have ONE COPY ONLY of this incredibly rare print, that has not only been personally signed by EIGHT members of this famous unit, but also matted to include the ORIGINAL autograph of Major DICK WINTERS. Also inluded in the matting is a fragment of original parachute silk as used by the men of the 101st, replica Screaming Eagle shoulder patch and a Airborne Garrison Cap Patch. *Please note this print has been dry mounted, but otherwise framed to full conservation standards.*
A unique NINE signature collector's piece to be cherished!
