RETURN TO GOODWOOD - Gouache on Board

An original gouache painting by Chris Draper, depicting the historic return of the Silver Spitfire, G-IRTY, to Goodwood Aerodrome following its remarkable round-the-world flight in 2019.

On 5 December, after completing its four-month global journey, the polished Spitfire Mk.IX returned to Britain accompanied by two Hawk jets of the RAF Red Arrows, providing a memorable escort for the final approach into Goodwood. 

Draper captures the aircraft over the aerodrome with the two Red Arrows above, combining the distinctive polished finish of G-IRTY with the landscape and hangars of Goodwood below.
